Individual That Touched Ariana Grande on the occasion of Red Carpet Event Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped over a barricade and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was sentenced to more than a week in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control stated to Singaporean press.
The man shoved past photographers and rushed toward the celebrity, who was present at the Asian premier for the film on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year.
The event sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The celebrity has mentioned suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at her concert in Manchester in several years ago killed 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.
Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere twice, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Protection personnel stopped him and pinned him down.
The man subsequently shared recordings thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."
Authorities detained him the next day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was quoted by a news outlet as remarking that the man sought attention, adding that he was mistaken to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
Grande has not addressed the situation.
Erivo mentioned the incident to a media outlet, saying that she "simply desired to verify my colleague was safe."
"I believe he didn't mean us danger, but you can't predict with such situations, and I sought to ensure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she said.
