I will overwhelm 'serious fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" the American as the pair came face-to-face to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Ex twice world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I will injure his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - normally famous for his dramatics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather attacked former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's largest money-making draws, regularly earning massive paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters engaged in the traditional confrontation, with their height and weight contrast evident, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really proceeding.
