Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
